Luz del Sur is a private, electric power distribution company that provides service to more than 741,424 thousand clients in the southeast area of Lima, capital of Peru.

With annual sales over 385 million dollars, Luz del Sur is thus one of the most important companies country-wide as well as one of the main electrical distributors of Latin America.

Among our major management accomplishments over the past 11 years, the following can be stressed:

• 100% coverage of the concession area. 

• Addition of more than 245,668 thousand new customers, thus benefiting over one million people.

• 7.5% energy losses.

• Investments over US$388 million that allowed to streamline the electrical system to provide an ongoing and reliable service.

• Construction of 9 electrical ground plants with state-of-the-art technology and extension of the electrical network to more areas in the city.

• Installation of more than 60 thousand area lights or luminaires.

• Last-generation computer platform.

• Greater service efficiency: Claims solved in less than a month, claims about street lighting solved in less than 3 days, new home connections in less than 5 days, among others.

• Increase of capacity of transformation in the substations with an increase of 241 MVA.

• Extension of the Balnearios Substation for one better installed capacity of transformation.

• Investment of US$ 47 million destining to improvements electric networks and to buy equipment and machines.

• Positioning of low and average tension posts to more than 5000 families in Manchay.

• Reduction of the frequency and duration of the unexpected interruptions falling in 12% and 4% respectively.

• Acquisition of US$ 1,8 million in equipments of emission of noise contributing to the improvement of the environment.

• Luz del Sur obtains ISO 14001:2004 Certification : System of Environmental Management

• Company considered like Better Electrical Company of the 2008 for sixth consecutive year.

• The creditors of the prize " Cinta de Plata 2008" by the Peruvian Company of Public Opinion like better company of the electrical sector.

Furthermore, in order to make a raid into new businesses, we rely on a corporate structure with three affiliates: Edecañete, Inmobiliaria Luz del Sur, Luz del Sur International AVV. 

• Edecañete
  100% of Edecañete –previously a Peruvian state-owned company - was awarded by means of an international public bidding in July 1996.
  The company, located south of Lima, has 26,000 customers.
  The concession area has 900 km2 and a great agribusiness and tourist development potential.
  The most of the investments accounted in the year were devoted to the extension of the electrical system to appropriately satisfy the demand and continue improving service quality.
  Finally, ongoing low and medium voltage network improvement programs are also being held.
