2. Which are the requirements for the installation of a new electric supply?
The following technical aspects should also be considered:
3. Do the inspection and electric tests on the installation carried out by the concession holder have any cost?
Yes, the cost is S/ 50,00 (IGV included -General Sales Tax in Peru) and should be paid along with the connection quotation.
4. Which are the payment conditions for a new connection?
Down payment: 40 %
Balance: Up to 6 payments
Interests: TAMN average (active rate in domestic currency) and TIPMN (passive rate in domestic currency), approx. 1,2 % monthly.
5. What is the validity of a quotation?
The budget is in force for 30 days following the elaboration thereof.
6. Can I buy a meter somewhere else?
Yes, but the company has to approve it, the inspection cost being assumed by the client.
7. What is the difference between a three-phase and a single-phase connection, and what type of meters does each one require?
The installation of a single-phase connection is limited to contracted power lower than 10 kW and it has two incoming cables.
The three-phase connection is used when the power to be contracted may exceed 10 kW and it allows the operation of house appliances such as water heaters, electrical stoves, etc. which may require this type of connection. The three-phase connection has three incoming cables.
Single-phase connections need a single-phase electromechanical meter, whereas three-phase connections may use both three-phase electromechanical and electronic meters (the latter mainly for industries).
8. Why do they charge for a new connection when moving from a single-phase supply to a three-phase supply?
Because when a single-phase connection is replaced by a three-phase connection, it is necessary to replace the cables with bigger cables, the meter holder and the meter equipment. In some cases, the support wall should also be changed.
9. Why is a Title Deed necessary so that the company can sell me a connection?
To prove the applicant's ownership of the premise for which connection has been requested. Thus, the owner can be sure that he/she is not paying other people's debts, affecting him/her and the Company.
10. Can the property assessment replace the ownership document?
No, because this document does not necessarily prove ownership of the premise.
11. Can the Possession Certificate replace the title deed?
Yes, provided that it is issued by the Municipality. This only applies for the population at shanty towns and settlements.
12. Should the Possession Certificate be issued by the Central Directorship or by the corresponding Municipality?
This document shall only be valid when issued by the Municipality.
13. Why can't I get an additional supply in my property?
You can get a second electrical supply at home if part of the house has been made independent or if the construction has been vertically or horizontally enlarged. When putting your application in due form, you shall provide your Certificate of Lot Subsivision or Factory Statement, depending on the case, to prove the premise's enlargement.
14. When requesting a new connection for a subdivision plot, why should not the existing supply have an outstanding debt?
To prevent the customer from having to pay the cost of a new connection plus the outstanding debts, and to avoid affecting the company due to the breach of a payment agreement. Should the new connection be granted, you must notice in writing who will assume the payment of the original debt, or how it will be split, as agreed upon by the parties involved.
15. Who signs the Supply Contract?
On behalf of the client, the owner of the property or the legal representative duly accredited by the owner.
16. Which are the requirements to ask for meter relocation?
Once the general requirements have been met, the following must be submitted:
17. How much does the location transfer cost?
The price may vary between S/ 180 and S/ 710 (inc. IGV - Peruvian sales tax)) depending on the type of connection and the distance between the former and new location.
18. Can a supply be moved from one property to another?
Electricity is delivered to the premise for which it was requested; therefore it is not possible to transfer it. For a new premise, a new supply must be applied for.
19. I am going to move into the BT5 tariff, what should I do with my measuring equipment?
BT5 connection does not require an electronic meter, therefore your present equipment can be removed. You can keep it as you are the owner, or you could give it to the Company as partial payment.
If you wish to keep such equipment to register your consumption in BT5 tariff, a power limiting device will be installed in order to avoid the excess of permissible load in such a tariff.
20. When a supply is removed and the client pays the total debt, why isn't the connection replaced at no cost?
Because when the connection is removed, a new connection is then installed. The cost of this connection is paid for by the client, regardless of the payment of his/her former debts.
Should devices such as the recess, wall support or meter be in good state, they will be used in the new connection and their cost will be deducted from the new connection's total cost.
The application for electrical supply reconnection must be submitted to your branch office in the customer Department or via Fonoluz.
According to the provisions set forth in Article 178° of the Law on Electrical Concessions, the supply contract will be terminated if power cut continues for a period of more than six months, the dealer being then entitled to remove the connection.
21. Which are the steps in order to ask a definitive removal of the meter (connection)?
The following documents must be sent via fax to Fonoluz or to its branch office:
22. If my meter is stolen, do I have to paid for its replacement?
No, you should only present the respective police report in order to prove the event. If a theft happens once more, the client will pay for the replaced meter.
23. If I bought the property, why should I have to pay the outstanding debt from the former owner?
The electrical supply is delivered to the premise where it was installed; therefore the owner of such premise is responsible for paying the amount of energy consumed.
According to the provisions of the R.D. 029-95-EM/DGE, when you become the new owner of a premise, you will also assume its outstanding debts.
24. What are the matrix and the service line (acometida)?
The matrix is the Concession Holder's distribution network. The service line (acometida) is the shunt that starts at this electric distribution network towards the measuring box to supply energy to the user's installation. The delivery point is known as the splice.
The National Electricity Code - Supply considers the service line (acometida) as part of an electric installation between the distribution network (including the splice) and the connection and measuring box or the intake box.
