1. When is the last payment day to avoid power cuts?
Clients shall pay also until the day before the date of power cuts indicated in the second unpaid bill.

The power cuts modalities established by Resolution N° 095-2004-OS / CD, as well as their costs applicable to users of the public electricity service, are indicated below. The prices and modalities of court are available in the Rate section.

3. Why isn't the client noticed before cutting electric power?

In conformity with the current provisions (Article 90 of the Electrical Concession Law), the Dealer shall cut the electric power without previous notice to the user, when two or more bills are outstanding.

Power shall be cut, should a breach of the payment agreement occur.

In order to provide a better service to our clients, Luz del Sur's bills include the date of power cuts corresponding to the unpaid months.

4. Why do you charge consecutive power cuts if electricity was cut off only once?

The consecutive power cuts are made and charged if the routine inspection reveals that electricity supply was reconnected without the Company's authorization. That can be confirmed when the meter shows an increase of power during the inspection after the cut.

5. Why can't I request the temporary cut of my tenant's electric supply if he owes me rents or if I have taken a legal action against him?

Because the Company is authorized to cut power only when there are two or more outstanding bills of electricity supply (Article 90° of the Law on Electrical Concessions). Furthermore, the Law empowers us to cut power when default in the installations puts human or material safety at risk, or when electrical power is used without our authorization.

6. Why do you charge electricity consumption if service was cut off last month?

The amount of the bill considers the consumption from the date of the last meter reading to the date of the power cut. Example: Meter reading was on May 3rd and power cut on May 10th, therefore seven days of consumption have to be billed.

Additionally, the following charges are billed regardless of monthly energy consumption:

  • Fixed Charge.
  • Maintenance and replacement charges.
  • Public lighting aliquot.
  • Power (for non- BT5 clients).

7. How many unpaid months can lead to a power cut?

Two months, or the breach of a payment agreement (due to debt or illegal connection).

8. Why has electricity been cut off if I have made all payments in time?

The following causes may be considered upon making a query in the power supply information system:

  • Failure in the premise's main switchboard (internal failure).
  • Meter failure.
  • Power cut in the area.
  • Thermomagnetic switch opening (current limiter) due to excessive power demand.

9. Who determines power cut and reconnection costs?

The Cognizant authority, Commission for Energy Rates (GART - spanish abbreviation ), in conformity with a Regulator Procedure that preceded the Resolution N° 095-2004-OS/CD on 05 of May of the 2004, fixed the maximum payments of power cuts and reconnections applicables to the clients. This payments are being updated according to dispositions expressed in that resolution.
